Sub-heading: i-CATS University College to Offer a Wide Range of Home-grown Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programmes for Malaysian and International Students

The International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) Kuching is now a recognized University College after receiving approval from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia.

Commenting on this latest development at i-CATS, which is managed by PPKS Ilmu Sdn. Bhd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Sarawak Skills Development Centre (Sarawak Skills), Mr. Hallman Sabri, Sarawak Skills’ Executive Director and ICAT’s Managing Director highlighted, “With the recent approval by the Ministry of Higher Education, i-CATS is now known as i-CATS University College or i-CATS UC. This momentous milestone heralds a new era for us in our ongoing quest to produce a qualified and competent workforce through continuous learning and development.”

“This sets the stage for i-CATS University College to develop and offer a wide range of home-grown undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for Malaysian and International students. We will also be able to strengthen further our ties with the industries in areas such as the integration of Industry Revolution 4.0 technologies, curricula development and enhancement, as well as joint research initiatives,” he said.

“We are indeed grateful for the tremendous support by the State and Federal Government(s) and our stakeholders, comprising the various sectors of industry, parents, alumni, students and staff members. With their support, we have this wonderful opportunity, as a University College, to raise the bar in our ongoing effort to advance the noble cause of Sustainable Human Capital Development,” he added.

Mr. Hallman also shared, “We will be meeting the Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak, to update him and invite him to launch i-CATS University College in March 2021. This will be a double celebration – Sarawak Skills/i-CATS 23rd Convocation and the official launch of i-CATS University College.”

In preparation for the official launch of i-CATS University College, the Management of i-CATS University College is organizing the i-CATS University College Corporate Logo Competition. Attractive cash prizes await the winners. The details will be announced in due course.

With regard to upcoming intakes, Mr. Mohamad Isham Bin Fauzi, i-CATS Chief Executive shared, “i-CATS is having their intake for diploma programmes for January 2021.
