i-CATS Invites New Students to Register Online for Bachelor’s Degree Programmes
New Students for June 2020 Intake to Receive Tablet PCs and Internet Data Plan to Facilitate Online Teaching and Learning

The International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS), Kuching is inviting STPM school leavers, foundation and diploma graduates to register online for its Bachelor’s degree programmes in E-Commerce and Software Engineering.
In its recent press release, i-CATS highlighted that the Induction/Orientation programme for the June 2020 intake will be held from 24 to 26 June 2020. Classes for the Bachelor’s degree programmes will commence on Monday, 29 June 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students will not be able to attend face-to-face classes. Instead, classes will be conducted online. This is to safeguard the interests and well-being of students, staff members and various stakeholders. To facilitate Home-based Learning for students who may be from different locations across Sarawak, upon registration, each new student will receive a Tablet PC (Tab), and an Internet Data Plan (RM 68/month for a period of six months before the resumption of face-to-face classes) from the i-CATS CARE Unit. This is one of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programmes by the i-CATS CARE Unit to help students, especially those from B40 households, to continue their studies at the tertiary level.
Currently, i-CATS Kuching offers two Bachelor’s degree programmes in collaboration with Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), namely the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) in E-Commerce and Bachelor of Software Engineering (Hons.). These three-year Bachelor’s degree programmes can be completed at the i-CATS Kuching Campus located at Jalan Stampin Timur, Kuching, Sarawak. For students, this will result in considerable cost saving(s), especially on travel and living costs. These programmes are a gateway to exciting careers in the digital economy. The programmes prepare students for a wide range of leadership and managerial positions. With the increasing importance of Industry Revolution 4.0 and the Digital Economy, graduates of these Bachelor’s degree programmes will be trained to thrive in an ever-changing and vibrant global economy. With the support and guidance of the i-CATS team of experienced lecturers, students will acquire a broad base of career-relevant knowledge and skills. During their studies, in addition to theoretical concepts, they will acquire practical skills in their area of specialization.
Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, many countries have gone into lockdown. Indeed, the growing impact of the pandemic, a ‘health and economic crisis’ is a cause for grave concern. All over the world, business owners, especially ‘conventional business’ owners, are looking for new business models to facilitate long-term sustainability. In this respect, the two Bachelor’s degree programmes offered by i-CATS are timely, as students will be equipped with the relevant knowledge and skills to be future-ready. Indeed, in the era of Digital Globalization, i-CATS’ e-Commerce graduates will be industry-ready, and will be able to thrive in a rapidly changing e-commerce/online environment. i-CATS’ software engineering graduates can look forward to exciting careers in a wide variety of fields such as online systems development and applications development. A number of the Bachelor of Software Engineering graduates/students at i-CATS have formed their own companies.
With regard to financial assistance, i-CATS staff members will assist students in their application(s) for study loans from the Sarawak Foundation (Yayasan Sarawak). In this respect, students who meet the prescribed requirements will be offered a Scholarship-Education Loan which covers the course fees and monthly living allowance (RM 400.00 per month). This will go a long way to ease the financial burden of students, especially those from B40 households.
