Global Citizenship Programme: i-CATS and Toyo University Students Celebrate Unity Amidst Diversity.

KUCHING: A total of 32 students comprising 20 students from Toyo University, Japan, 11 students from International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) and a student from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) recently participated in a six-day Global Citizenship.
Held from 17 to 22 August 2019, the programme was co-organised by Toyo University and Global Incubation x Fostering Talents (GiFT), a non-profit organization based in Tokyo, Japan and supported by The Midin Events Company and i-CATS.
The aim of the event was to promote Global Citizenship Education and foster mutual trust and respect among fellow human beings around the globe. It provides students with the opportunity to learn about diversity and to develop lifelong friendships with overseas and local students.
The students visited various places of interest and tourist attractions in and around Kuching, in addition to various activities at i-CATS West Campus in Kuching.
During the closing ceremony at i-CATS, Misaki Kemmochi, a Diploma in Sociology student from Toyo University, Japan said, “This is my first time in Kuching and I am very happy to have friends here. They showed me examples of unity amidst diversity. I will definitely share my experience here with my family and friends when I return home.”
John Anak Chulif @ Douglas Chulip, a Diploma in Hotel Management student from i-CATS commented, “The programme unveiled the cultural differences between Japan and Sarawak and it is a good platform for us to learn and get to know each other”.
