MoU between Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak & Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd a positive step forward in upskilling and developing an industry-ready workforce
KUCHING: On 2nd August 2019, Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd (SSSB), paving the way for both parties to collaborate in the area of Human Capital Development.
Signing on behalf of PPKS and Senari Synergy were PPKS Executive Director Mr. Hallman bin Haji Sabri and Senari Synergy’s Group Managing Director Haji Jefri Ahmad Tambi. The ceremony was witnessed by PPKS’s Chairman YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr.) Haji Abdul Aziz Bin Dato Haji Husain and PPKS’s Management Council Secretary Dato Hajah Maznah bt Dazmi.
Also present was PPKS’s Deputy Executive Director (Education, Training & Student Services Division) Mr. Zakri Md Salleh, Senari Synergy Head of Group Corporate Services Puan Norashikin Dahlan, Senari Synergy Management Team and PPKS’s members. The signing ceremony was held at the International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) West Campus, Kuching. i-CATS is a subsidiary of PPKS.
PPKS Executive Director Mr. Hallman bin Haji Sabri highlighted that the essence of the MoU is to enable both parties, PPKS and Senari Synergy, to collaborate, especially in the area of upskilling the workforce. While PPKS is a well known approved training provider to offer Malaysian Skills Certificate (Recognition of Prior Achievement programme), Senari Synergy on the other hand is committed to support Sarawak's development initiatives in terms of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) particularly for Senari Synergy staff.
Hallman also pointed out that these upskilling programmes will help Senari Synergy’s staff in leveraging on their working experience and achievements. To enhance their skills, Senari Synergy’s staff will also be able to join a wide range of staff development courses offered by PPKS. PPKS students will also be able to undergo on the job training or join the internship programme at Senari Synergy Group of Companies whereby Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd is the latest member of PPKS.
Senari Synergy’s Group Managing Director Haji Jefri Ahmad Tambi mentioned that a key strategic enabler in achieving their aspiration is a motivated workforce . Besides focusing on employees' well- being, nurturing positive mindset and providing a conducive working environment, Senari Synergy puts a lot of emphasis on career progression of its employees as they aspire to be the state flagship for the provision of independent common facilities for the oil and gas and its related industries in Sarawak.
He added, hence under the collaboration with PPKS, they will be embarking on the Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) Programme and Multiskilling Programmes for their technical staff.These programmes are dedicated specifically to those experienced staff with the minimum qualification of PMR and serve to acknowledge their working experiences, motivate them and also encourage the spirit of lifelong learning.
