Kuching, 25 January 2019 - Recently, 12 trainees from Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS) were given the opportunity to gain real life work experience in Mechatronics for a period of two (2) years at One Medicare Sdn. Bhd. (One Medicare); the Hospital Support Service Provider for 23 government hospitals in Sarawak.
Welcoming the selected trainees during a recent official signing ceremony at One Medicare’s headquarters, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of One Medicare, Sazali Tuah Bin Neli highlighted, “It is a great honour to be chosen by PPKS for this partnership. We welcome the opportunity to share our experience with the students and this partnership is the perfect platform to introduce the various fields, including mechatronics, needed to ensure hospitals receive the best support services to them.”
Further commenting on the collaboration, Mohamad Isham Bin Fauzi, CEO of the International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) who is representing Executive Director, Hallman Sabri shared, “The industry-relevant curriculum of the Malaysian Meister Programme in Mechatronics combines modules from two countries, namely Germany and Malaysia. The combination of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems of both countries will prepare the trainees for exciting careers within Malaysia and abroad.
He added, “This programme is fully funded by the Skills Development Fund Corporation (Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran). As such, this will be a wonderful opportunity for those planning to expand their skills, including working adults who have completed the Malaysian Skills Certificate Level 3 (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Tahap 3) in related field.” .
Mohamad Isham also shared, “During the two-year apprenticeship programme, the trainees will continue to attend classes (theory and practical components) at the PPKS Campus, Tabuan Jaya. Upon completion of the programme, the trainees will be awarded the Malaysian Skills Advanced Diploma Level 5 in Industrial Automation Engineering Systems Development by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) and Malaysian Meister Certification by Handwerkskammer (HWK) Aachen, Germany.”
“This Apprenticeship Programme will complement their theory learning in class and enable the trainees to acquire real life work experience. Throughout their training, the students will gain invaluable practical experience under the guidance of our technical and managerial staff members, seamlessly introducing them to the world out of their classroom. To be part of the rapidly growing industry, we also look forward to knowledge transfer we will gain from these trainees to further improve our services,” Sazali concluded.
Under the PPKS – One Medicare collaboration, the trainees from Malaysian Meister Programme in Mechatronics will be based at the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching and Pusat Jantung Sarawak in Kota Samarahan throughout the course of their apprenticeship.
