The upcoming TVET Symposium 2019, to be held at the Pullman Hotel, Kuching from 19 to 21 February 2019 will be an ideal platform to facilitate the development of talent for the Digital Economy.

Co-organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research Sarawak (MESTR) and Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS), the symposium will be officiated by the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg.

Commenting on the symposium, PPKS Executive Director Mr. Hallman Bin Sabri highlighted, “The symposium will feature an impressive line-up of speakers from Malaysia and overseas. An estimated 500 delegates are expected to attend this symposium. Indeed, this will be an ideal platform for stakeholders, comprising the Government, Industry and Academia to explore ways to develop future-ready talent for the Digital Economy. With Industry 4.0 and the Digital Economy at our doorstep, there is an urgent need to engage in lively discourse and at the same time, share best practices in areas such as the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Strategic Human Capital Development, and how TVET must evolve in its noble endeavour to produce future-ready graduates. The symposium will also enable stakeholders to receive updates on government policies, the vibrant transformation of TVET, and how Industry 4.0 and the Digital Economy open new doors of opportunity for the industry sectors.”

Mr. Hallman bin Sabri also highlighted that the Conference Fee (RM 1,200.00 per delegate) is HRDF Claimable. For group registration (minimum of five delegates), the Conference Fee is RM 1,000 per delegate. Refreshments/lunch will be provided during the three-day symposium.

Mr. Hallman also shared that recently, a delegation led by PPKS Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Haji Abdul Aziz Bin Dato Haji Husain and Datu Sudarsono Osman (Permanent Secretary, MESTR) visited Sarawak State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Morshidi Bin Abdul Ghani to update him on the organizing committee’s progress. In this respect, Mr. Hallman commented, “We are grateful for the support and invaluable feedback by our State Secretary which has enabled the organizing committee to finalize the preparations for the upcoming symposium.”.
