KUCHING (Recently) – There are huge pools of workers recorded in the industry; however there are limited numbers of skilled labor registered within the industry itself. In support to enhance the number of skilled workers in the national labor market by 37% at minimum, Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) had introduced a scheme that design to enable unskilled workers to get recognition on their skills and competency according to the level determined by the Department of Skills Development (DSD).
Geared to drive force the importance of RPEL scheme, along the same line as a push factors to intensify the awareness of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Sarawak Skills Development Centres (PPKS) has recently visited major industry players purportedly to urged unskilled workers to pursue upskilling through RPEL program.
The PPKS Corporate Training Department had attended to a total of 400 over participants from Toko Electronic Sarawak Sdn Bhd and One Medicare Sdn Bhd which ranging from experienced workers of various departments and skills acquisition that had been held at different venues and session. The RPEL briefing was delivered by PPKS Corporate Training Executive, Mr. Yusuf Kamil. The briefing further emphasized the avenues provided for experienced workers to undergo RPEL as extension of staff’s capacity building.
Comprehending the relevant to the needs of skilled workforce demanded from various industries, Corporate Training Department PPKS will continue to organize RPEL briefing to the relevant industries. RPEL is a fast track program to assess years of working experiences that converting the competencies level into diploma certification. The eligibility and qualification is through evidence-basis of the working framework that needed to be assessed via 5 months courses and gaps analysis prior translating into awards of diploma.
