i-CATS Business Degree Students Receive Laptops

Recently, the second cohort of students from the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) in E-Commerce programme were each presented with a laptop during a Handing Over Ceremony at the International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) West Campus in Kuching. The ceremony was officiated by YB Gerald Rentap Jabu, Assemblyman for Layar.

During the ceremony, YB Gerald Rentap shared on the immense business opportunities in e-commerce around the globe. He also highlighted the achievements and contributions of Jack Ma, the founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group, in shaping the vibrant e-commerce landscape. YB Rentap also emphasized that graduates have to be creative in selecting suitable products to be marketed online locally or globally, and the need to formulate effective strategies in order to achieve competitive advantage.

Commenting on the event, Mr. Desmond Sateng Sanjan, Head of the i-CATS School of Business and Accounting shared that, “Providing the laptops for the business degree students is in line with the e-learning initiative at i-CATS. Indeed, we have long recognized that learning not only occurs in the classroom. Mobile computing devices such as laptops and tablets enable students to expand their learning space. The laptops also serve as a gateway to a world of knowledge and information.”

At i-CATS, the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) in E-Commerce is offered in collaboration with Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL). The degree programme prepares students for a wide range of managerial positions in an e-commerce environment.  With the support and guidance of the i-CATS team of experienced lecturers, students will acquire a broad base of career-relevant knowledge and skills. During their studies, in addition to theoretical concepts, they will acquire practical skills in the various aspects of business including information technology. An important area will be the enhancement of skills related to the selling and buying of organizational products and services via the global electronic system.

Enrolment to the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons.) in E-Commerce programme is now ongoing for the March 2017 session. Students who meet any of the following requirements are eligible to enter the business degree programme: A-Level with 2 passes/STPM with minimum Grade C (CGPA 2.0) in any 2 subjects/5 Bs in UEC/Completed an accredited Foundation in Business programme (minimum CGPA 2.0). Those having a diploma which has been accorded minimum standard by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) are eligible to transfer up to a maximum of 36 credit hours to the degree programme.
