To assist secondary school leavers to make informed decisions about academic pathways and career choices, the International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (i-CATS) will be holding its Open Days from 11 to 14 July 2018 at its Jalan Stampin Timur Campus in Kuching.

Open to the general public from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the Open Days, members of the i-CATS academic team and course counsellors will be available for face-to-face counselling on the wide range of programmes including various forms of financial assistance.

At i-CATS, opportunities abound for students to earn internationally recognized diploma and degree level programmes in Business Administration, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Hotel Management, Information Technology and Tourism. In this respect, booths will be set up to showcase programmes offered by i-CATS and final-year projects by students. In addition, campus tours will be organized for visitors.

In conjunction with the Open Days, various activities will be organized such as the Next Chef Idol Cooking Competition on 11 July 2018. Organized by the students of the i-CATS Diploma in Culinary Arts programme, the participation fee is RM20.00 per person (for the individual event) and RM50.00 per team (team event: 2 participants per team). The competition is open to staff, students and members of the public. Attractive prizes will be awarded to the winners of each category (Champion, First Runner-up and Second Runner-up).

Members of the public are invited to attend a seminar entitled ‘Bio-logging Reveals Underwater Behaviours of Sea Turtles’ on 14 July 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. To be held in i-CATS’s Lecture Theatre 1, the seminar will be conducted by Professor Sato Katsufumi from the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, University of Tokyo, Japan. The free seminar is co-organized by the Ecology Conservation Office and the Midin Events Company with the support of the Red Crescent Stampin District. i-CATS is the Venue Sponsor. Due to popular demand, admission to the free seminar will be on a first come, first served basis.

On Saturday, 14 July 2018, there will also be a car boot sale organized by staff and students of Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS) Group of Institutions. i-CATS is a subsidiary company of PPKS.

Indeed, the Open Days will be a wonderful opportunity for secondary school leavers and their parents to explore the vibrant landscape of higher education and obtain first-hand information about academic pathways and career choices.
